What's it all about?

Collage Mural Project is about getting together in a creative and free space to think about issues of change, and get to know each other on a level where we can better support and nurture the parts of ourselves that don't always get enough time or attention in day to day business. It's not about being the best, but working towards a better you for a better whole. This is a project about working as a group, realising that every person's participation will shape the outcome, and seeing the potential and strength of a group focus.

I was impressed with the genuine and creative feeling from that very brief stop, your friends were all so kind. Your art, in fact, has me thinking. In particular, I have been wanting to create a community art project here in Hawaii especially for the youth--very similar ideals to those of your project. Welcome to The Collage Mural Project

The Collage Mural Project began in London in 2008.

The idea was to create informal gatherings of people and use old magazines to create collages that explored climate change. The project grew from social weekend collage sessions to a public event.exhibition that took place in Gallery 491, London.

The project is a fun way to get creative and enter into a dialogue around climate change - how we got to where we are at and how we are going to get to where we want to go.

The project allows participants to witness arts' role as healing facilitator, communication vehicle and envisioning tool.

Collage provides an accessible way to express a visual message.

I have continued to develop the project and now facilitate collage sessions for many different projects and groups in and around Cape Town.

Making a change, a real serious change in the world. It's not the presidents who make the changes, it's the people who make the changes.

Small groups of conscious people make the changes.

We have to work together

We have to start becoming conscious of our actions and our effects.

When we gather, when we come together we have the power to change.

There has to be this massive shift, that is going to take place in a short period of time.

We need to change ourselves, its action based, small things like re-cycling in your household.

People have gotten used to an unrealistic way of feeding themselves. Most people dont produce any food. Most people dont even know where their food comes from. We need to create a time for reflection. A time to think ok what is this food about. What does it mean to us, where does it come from, where does it go after we eat? These are the solutions we are looking for. It's all part of a cycle. Most people dont know yet that they live in a big cycle. The wheel of life. We are like a species that has lost our tracks, our path. We need to find it again.

We have to take responsibility for what the human race is doing to each other and to this planet of ours.

It starts by thinking about what you are buying, why you are buying it, eating it, why you are consuming it. Re think about what you are taking.

And then slowly you become more conscious about what you really need, about what you don't need and about what you are told to need.

Move the whole system into a far more eco-logically sound direction.

Find the courage within yourself to go and create something.

Changing peoples paradigms from cynicism and apathy to recognising that this is a critical period and that everything is possible.

We must get together and work it out amongst ourselves because we cant rely on anyone else for this. We have to create it ourselves.

You are not going to win through violence, you are not going to win through fights, only true love, it's the only solution.

In people who are questioning and are full of intelligence and love there is hope for the future.

The potential to make a utopian planetry civilization is availible to us if we allow ourselves to access it.

Transform problems into opportunities. Lets make this world a better place.
